Beyond teaching, research and support for the community and the university, it is a faculty member’s duty to protect his or her rights. When a faculty member’s rights are abridged, it is incumbent on him or her to redress those grievances. The United Faculty of Florida (UFF) staunchly supports faculty rights. (Your right to organize and to redress a grievance is defined under Florida Statute 447.) Since faculty members are subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the United Faculty of Florida and the University of West Florida Board of Trustees, UFF offers grievance representation. However, faculty members must be dues-paid members of the Union in order for the Union to offer assistance in the grievance process.
When you believe your rights have been violated, please consult a Union Grievance Representative (consult the Contact Us page) to discuss the situation. Since time is of the essence, it is important that you contact the appropriate union representative as soon as possible after you have determined a right’s violation has occurred.
To read more about the grievance process, please consult the grievance provisions in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). If you are considering filing a grievance, it must be submitted on the official grievance form that is available for download from the link below.
