The United Faculty of Florida (UFF) supports faculty rights, the advancement of academic excellence, the achievement of economic security, and gives you the opportunity to join in the collegial decision-making process which determines many of your professional circumstances.
In the political arena, UFF and its affiliates advocate the interests of all UFF constituents before the Florida Legislature, the Florida Cabinet, the US Congress and other agencies. UFF draws additional political strength locally, statewide and nationally through its affiliation with the AFL-CIO, National Education Association and American Federation of Teachers.
On campus, collective bargaining contracts negotiated by UFF strengthen administrative accountability and faculty authority.Throughout Florida, your UFF colleagues are at the bargaining table to improve salaries, hours, terms and conditions of Florida’s higher education professionals.
UFF protects faculty rights. Members are provided with three basic services to guarantee legal representation in employment-related and private matters. The employment liability insurance protects members from personal financial liability as a result of service on a peer review committee, accidents or other events occurring in the course of employment. It provides an attorney at no cost to the member and liability protection up to $1 million per occurrence.
On legal matters which are not employment related, the attorney referral program entitles members to two free 30-minute consultations on real estate, wills and estates, domestic relations, adoptions, consumer protection and traffic violations, and guarantees discounts on further legal work.
Grievance representation is one of the most important services UFF provides. We have over 20 years of successful grievance resolution. More than 95% of all grievances have been resolved at the campus level, because we stand to take grievances to final and binding arbitration to protect your rights.
